People who rely on their performing arts talent to pay the bills in the have suffered throughout the pandemic and St Paul’s musicians and students of music and the arts have been equally impacted. Time and space to perform in front of an audience is a critically important part of a musical career, whether at the beginning or along the journey. In 2022 the College is lifting its music program to new heights bringing together some amazing talent for your enjoyment with a rejuvenated College choir, an ensemble-in-residence, composition, music tutoring and great links to the SSO and Con.

The St Paul’s College Choir in 2022 has been expanded to 32 outstanding singers who are enhancing a wonderful and long-standing choral tradition of the College. The choir is now one of the best choral groups in Sydney especially since the introduction of lay clerks to lead each of the four sections. Miss Brianna Louwen, soprano, is one of those leaders having come to Graduate House in 2022 from her studies in Perth. She has also been appointed an Associate Dean of Graduate House as a leading member of that community.

Mr Jack Stephens, our new Director of Music, has lined up a number of great musical events for Paulines and the wider community. A Night at the Opera on 18 March will showcase the talent of members of the College Choir and the 2022 Ensemble-in-Residence and the brilliant resident pianists now at Paul’s. A highlight of this Semester will be two performances in the Dining Hall of the very popular Four Seasons Recomposed by Max Richter on 8 and 9 April. These special events are ticketed and open to the public. Early release tickets for Paulines are on sale now at www.trybooking.com/BXYLR
