St Paul’s College, Ensemble Apex and international-renowned soloist Brendan Joyce present Max Richter’s modern taken on Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, recomposed for orchestra and synthesiser by one of the most influential composers and prolific contemporary music artists of this generation. Paired with choral and ensemble works by Ola Gjeilo and Eric Whitacre performed with the St Paul’s College Choir, this exciting concert will be presented in the gothic sandstone Dining Hall of St Paul’s College.

The Salisbury Bar will be open for a drink after each concert, and the Wine Cellar beforehand so you can enjoy a drink throughout the concert. Tickets are strictly limited, so we are inviting the St Paul’s College community for a chance to purchase tickets early before the go public on Friday.

Brendan Joyce 

Brendan Joyce is the Artistic Director of Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra, and his leadership of that group has been described by The Australian as dynamic and in Limelight as indefatigable.

An alumnus of the original version of Camerata that played to high critical acclaim (then Camerata of St John’s 1987-1997), he frequently appears as soloist with the group, has led for milestones including its first recordings, tours, broadcasts, collaborations, world premieres, and in acclaimed performances at the Brisbane Festival, Darwin Festival, Queensland Music Festival, 4MBS Festival and the Australian Festival of Chamber Music. In consultation with his colleagues, Brendan curates Camerata’s renowned programming including its 2016 and 2019 Helpmann Award nominated concerts, Home and Sara Macliver with Camerata and the group’s recent smash hit, Four Seasons Reimagined series that was referred to as, “surprising and inventive, and a testament to good programming too!” (Limelight).

In demand as a guest leader and concertmaster, Brendan has led the Orchestra of the Antipodes for Pinchgut Opera productions and for many years played with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, including as soloist in their acclaimed world premiere performances on period instruments of Max Richter’s hit work, Vivaldi Four Seasons Recomposed.
